Money Heist, also known in Spanish as La Casa de Papel, has become a highly talked-about crime series since its debut season on Netflix in 2017. The massive success of the Spanish series is reflected in its international accolades, including the “Best Drama” award at the International Emmy Awards in 2018.
This national heist series is the brainchild of Alex Pina, a skillful producer, director, and screenwriter. It is a fun, exciting, and realistic story about an epic heist perpetrated by eight outlaws. With hostage lives at stake, viewers were kept on the edge of their seats. Thailand was also one of the filming locations for Money Heist Season 3.
The leader of this gang is known as “Professor”, while the eight outlaws, the story’s main characters, take their aliases from the names of cities in different countries. Played by Úrsula Corberó, one young outlaw named “Tokyo” has a featured role in this series. With each episode having its own fascinating plot, the series quickly became famous.
Initially, the Spanish production team intended to make the series for only 2 seasons. However, after Netflix acquired global streaming rights and produced it until Season 5, Money Heist became an online trend and a series on Netflix with an all-time high worldwide viewership, even though it is a Non-English-Language series.
If you have watched all 5 seasons and still crave more, watch out for a spin-off about one of the main characters, “Berlin“, played by Pedro Alonso. Shooting started on the 8-episode series in October 2022 with Alex Pina reprising his role as producer and screenwriter.
A Korean remake titled “Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area” has also been produced with the first and second seasons now available on Netflix.
Follow the thrill of the heist plot from the perspectives of the eight outlaws. All 5 seasons only on Netflix!
