The Lost Lotteries

About
The Lost Lotteries

The Lost Lotteries (ปฏิบัติการกู้หวย) offers a fresh take on satirical comedy about social inequality. It is also the first release of Netflix’s Tee Thai Tee Mun, a line-up of Thai films and series by Netflix. The story, created by producer Ekachai Uekrongtham, places “lottery tickets” as a key component of the plot as they offer everyone the hope of instant wealth.

The Lost Lotteries is produced by GMM Studio and directed by Prueksa Amaruji, a prolific director with many successful comedy movies to his credit. He also made his debut as a screenwriter for this movie. Prueksa views the lottery as something relatable to most people in Thailand and this movie is about a group of working-class people buying the same lottery number in the hope of a better life.

A heist-comedy film tells the story of 5 losers united by a crazy mission to retrieve their 30-million-baht winning lottery tickets from a mafia gang headquartered in a firecracker factory. Lined up is a formidable cast featuring Sky-Wongravee Nateetorn as Tay, a loser mastermind who plots a ‘win-it-back’ scheme, and with Minnie-Phantira Pipityakorn as Beat, a tough girl who stands up against all kinds of injustice. Co-starring are popular comedy actors like Pat-Napapa Tantrakul as Zoe, a talented pretty booth babe, Somjit Jongjohor as Khung, a gold-digging salesman, and Jazz-Padung SongSang as Wen, an extra who dreams big, plus famous singer Parn-Thanaporn Wagprayoon as Toi – Tay’s mom, a lottery agent. Unfortunately, all these loser characters are the owners of the same first-prize lottery tickets. The mission to get the ticket back turns out to be: ‘Die Hard, laugh harder’.
