The Stranded (เคว้ง), Thailand’s first original series on Netflix, elevates myths and legends into a mysterious and interesting story. The various filming locations around Thailand also serve well for storytelling. The place where the story takes place is so beautiful and exotic that many who have seen it admire it and want to follow in the footsteps of the cast. Khao Chamao-Khao Wong National Park is one of the filming locations.
With its area extending into Khao Chamao District and Klaeng District in Rayong Province and some parts of Kaeng Hang Maeo District in Chanthaburi Province, Khao Chamao-Khao Wong National Park is one of the most beautiful unseen tourist destinations of the East because of its fertile rainforest, which is the origin of the Prasae River of Rayong Province.
Khao Chamao-Khao Wong National Park is famous for its prolific forest. The park’s abundant attractions include Khao Wong Cave, a cave surrounded by a ring of limestone cliffs with stunning stalagmites and stalactites inside, while a climb up to Pha Sawan Viewpoint is rewarded with a panoramic view of Khao Chamao-Khao Wong National Park.
A must-visit highlight of this place is “Khao Chamao Waterfall”, a.k.a. “Khlong Nam Sai Waterfall,” named after the 3-kilometer canal of clear water at the foot of the hill. The 8 levels of this majestic waterfall are as follows:
1st Level “Wang Neung” is characterized by a clear stream flowing through rocks to create rapids.
2nd Level “Wang Matcha” is a large and deep basin. A beautiful waterfall flowing cascades down from the top and there is a check-in point at a hanging bridge where you can take photos and feed the fish.
3rd Level “Wang Morrakot” is named after its emerald pond, where swimming is allowed.
4th Level “Wang Sai Ngam” is another level with a deep pond surrounded by banyan trees.
5th Level “Pha Kluay Mai” is named after various kinds of wild orchids which bloom at the beginning of the year.
6th Level “Chong Kaeb” is the level where water streams down past rocks to form an alluring water curtain.
7th Level “Hok Sai” is the most beautiful level as water flows through six streams that fall more than 7 meters during the dry season. There is also a pond for swimming.
8th Level “Pha Soong” is about 1 kilometer from the previous level. Trekking is quite difficult, but worth it as you will find a stream surrounded by thick mist.
Khao Chamao-Khao Wong National Park is 74 kilometers away from Rayong. Take the motorway from Bangkok and then use Highway 344 (Ban Bueng-Klaeng Road). Once in Klaeng, drive along Highway 3 for about 7 kilometers, and then follow signs until you reach Khao Chamao District.
