“Baan Tepa Culinary Space” - From Backyard Garden to Special Dinners

Midnight Asia: Eat · Dance · Dream is a docuseries that explores the hidden lives and places that emerge after sunset in the big cities of Asia, including Bangkok. Experience the dreams and stories of the people who lead ordinary lives during the day but extraordinary ones at night. Baan Tepa Culinary Space is one of Bangkok’s nightlife hotspots covered in this series. This unique restaurant welcomes customers every night with fresh and unforgettable dinners unlike any others.

The restaurant’s location serves as both an eatery and a vegetable garden, ensuring fresh ingredients are available directly from “Farm to Table”. It is a concept introduced by Chudaree “Tam” Debhakam, who wanted to create a multi-functional restaurant that combined great food, chef’s table cuisine, catering solutions, a venue for private events, and a garden that combined waste management with a source of ingredients for the Thai cuisine made from her family recipes using seasonal products. Not only full of flavors but also beautifully presented, her creations are something that everyone should try at least once in their lives.

From experiences in the USA to a simple farm-to-table concept

Chef Tam was the first winner of “Top Chef Thailand”. Her story begins when she followed her dream to the USA, where she studied culinary art and life lessons for six months. During this relatively short period, Chef Tam became a professional chef who then honed her craft in the restaurant industry over the next three years. After gaining knowledge and experience of the industry, she developed the Farm to Table idea and tried to turn it into reality.

Unable to find any restaurants that aligned with her concept and vision after she returned to Thailand, Chef Tam decided to explore suitable markets and ingredients by herself until eventually, she opened her own restaurant.

Chef’s Table is a special dining experience by Chef Tam. The main ingredients are seasonal, provided by farmers’ locally-grown products, her backyard gardens, and anything she gets from the vendor partners that help her find great ingredients each day. Once gathered together, these ingredients are combined and applied using her expertise to create special meals that are full of taste, inspired by her experiences, and aligned with her farm-to-table concept.
